28 August – 4 September 2023
The evening of August 27th during my God-time, I made notes of my download that were titled “Be Flexible and Open to Change.” At the time, I chuckled and was like, “What would that look like since I rarely leave home?” LOL! The next day at work, Allen ended up making a trip to the APA and happened upon a dog who was Chief’s mini-me in looks and temperament. He took a video of her (although we didn’t realize it was a her initially) and later was telling his co-workers about the dog. They encouraged him to send it along to me – and one in particular teased that he’d be getting a dog today! Turned out she was not wrong – LOL!
Allen texted it to me (the video is below the pictures and actually is a playlist that includes other videos from the first few days), and said something like “Is this our dog?” Now we had discussed a second dog several times since Cecil moved because Chief did so well with regular puppy socialization, but we kept dismissing the idea because we really didn’t want the extra work/dirt/etc.
So when I got the text, I called Allen and we talked about it. I shared my download from the night before and we laughed… it definitely seemed like God was making it obvious! So 2 hours later, we met up at the APA (Allen arrived before me and did the paperwork, and then I arrived to drive her home).
She’s precious. Her backstory is heartbreaking and it makes me all the more in awe of what a GOOD dog she is. That said, she’s 6 months and largely untrained, so it’s been challenging even as it’s been way better than it could have been! Here’s some of the cuteness from the first few days.
